This Week's Guest Speaker - Mitchell St. Clair-Glover
Presidents Message

A reminder of Kiama club’s Xmas in July Trivia Night on Friday 24th July. For info or booking contact John Clark 0419546091.

As per my recent email to members, Centro's dinner fee has increased to $35 with raffle ticket still $2. This and changes to monthly drinks evening to be explained at club assembly on the 29th.

Don’t miss this week’s guest speaker, Mitchel St Claire telling us about “Life Post PhD”.

Shifts are still available for our next Bunnings BBQ Monday 27th. Book in now to avoid disappointment via Club Runner or email Phil Peckman.

If you, or someone you know, can help, we still need donations for the Race Day silent auction, as well as bottle/s for the wine fridge.

Following the meeting an informative board meeting took place with valuable input by “visitor” Narelle. As always, such member involvement is welcomed and often brings a different and productive viewpoint on matters.

All the best,

President Bob

Last Week’s Meeting Minutes: Scribe – Helen Hasan
  • Pre-dinner drinks in the courtyard were well attended and enjoyed by all.

  • Sergeant Ken declared meeting open at 6.35pm.

  • President Bob welcomed everyone and mentioned how most of the members had little faith in an NSW origin win last week but we were all pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Rose has been informed by Centro that a electronic platform will be installed mid-October to allow mobility challenge guests to access the upstairs function room.

  • Annette Reflected on the influence of media in our world and as an example the increased interest in Palaeontology since the movie Jurassic Park in 1993, and how investors/ collectors are now outbidding museums, researchers for dinosaur fossils. A recent auction of Gus the T Rex sold for $ 72 million US.

  • John gave the international toast to the Rotary Club of Oslo, Norway district 2310. Oslo international rotary club is an English-speaking organization established 12th Feb 2012. It aims at gathering Norwegians and Non-Norwegians under rotary’s main objective-service-in the community, in the workplace, and around the globe. Norway has 300 rotary clubs comprising over 12,000 members. All the clubs’ programs unfortunately are outlined in Norwegian on their website.

  • Ken will be organising RYDA on the 14th and 15th October and will need assistance with the set up etc.

  • Dennis will be at the Charles hotel Thursday evening running the joker draw, it has been a bit slow lately but hopefully this will improve.

  • Phil asked members to consider nominating worthy charitable donation recipients. He also asked all members to approach organisations they knew that may donate items suitable for the Charity Race Day Silent Auction. Items of around $100.00 upwards are required.

  • Rose asked members to consider joining the upcoming Ride for Rotary event either in person or virtually if preferred.

  • The wine raffle was won by Kevin and a very excited Rose.

  • Ken once more recited a wonderful rendition of Banjo Paterson’s poem ‘A Bush Christening’ which was enjoyed by all members, who gave Ken much hearty applause.
