President's Message

Last week’s meeting was a trial run for a proposed new meeting format.  It certainly felt different and I look forward to hearing from members this week on what they thought.

Thank you to Helen Hasan for her presentation on her experiences in the Middle East, particularly Israel, Palestine and the Gaza Strip. It truly was insightful.

As mentioned at last week’s meeting, we are still looking for Race Day
beneficiary suggestions from members. Please email any suggestions
you may have directly to me by Tuesday (16 Feb), if possible, with
details of the organisation and the proposed project/program the
funds would support.

The quarterly District Presidents' meeting is being held this coming
Thursday evening at Bankstown Sports Club. If you have a matter you
would like me to raise, or if any member would like to attend with me,
please let me know by Tuesday evening. The meeting runs from
6:00PM until 8:30PM.

This week is our short meeting with pre-meeting drinks in the courtyard
from 5:30PM, short meeting, followed by our board meeting. If any
member would like an item placed on the agenda, please let Kerrie
Hayes-Williams know by 12 noon Tuesday.

I look forward to seeing you all there.

Cheers,
President Phil

Last Week’s Meeting Minutes: Scribe – Patrick Roberts

Dennis Simpson moved a vote of thanks to the Rotary Club of Milano Cortina, host city for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Patrick Roberts then delivered the reflection.

We were subsequently delighted to welcome Past President Helen Hasan as our guest speaker. Helen took us on a vivid journey through her early married life in the Middle East, sharing personal stories that were both heartfelt and captivating. Her presentation was enriched with a collection of photographs, offering us a glimpse not only into her family life but also into the diverse and fascinating places that make up the region. Through her stories and images, we were transported to a part of the world rich in culture, history and unforgettable landscapes.
