President's Message

Some guest speakers leave you feeling uplifted and that was certainly the case with Rod Von Clarke, CEO Flagstaff Group. Rod gave a fantastic overview of how he arrived at Flagstaff and the great things Flagstaff have already achieved and wish to achieve in the future. It was obvious to all present that Rod loves his role at Flagstaff and is so very passionate about all his employees and their success. I am so glad we have chosen Flagstaff as one of our Race Day recipients and look forward to assisting each other in the future.

As mentioned at last week’s meeting, feedback from our DG Renga
Rajan is that a 2 District solution for NSW is being given serious
consideration by the RI redistricting team. We await an official
response.

Our Club Changeover is fast approaching, so please earmark 24 June as
a must attend event with your partners and friends. This is a great
opportunity to celebrate our clubs’ achievements over the past year,
present our major donations and welcome in our new President(s) and
board for the year ahead. Our changeover dinner will be held at The
Builders Club, Wollongong in the basement function room, which has lift
access.

This week’s meeting starts early for pre-dinner drinks in the courtyard
at 5:30PM. A board meeting will follow the club meeting. If any
member has an item they wish the board to consider, please advise
Kerrie, who will place your request on the meeting agenda.
As always, I look forward to seeing you all there.

Cheers,
President Phil

Last Week’s Meeting Minutes: Scribe – Janet Crakanthorpe

Sergeant Ken Potter opened the meeting at 6.17pm and President Phil welcomed all.

Janet - Reflection on so many past members that put so much into so many projects within the Illawarra such as the building of a school house for Cram House and the opening of weekends at Hillview Sutton Forest for approximately 16 years. Without this huge effort I feel we would not be the club that we are today.

Janet Proposed a toast to the Rotary Club of Shanghai boasting a rich and intricate history. It was the first Rotary Club established in China in 1919. The club re-entered the Rotary community as Club 60725 on 8 February 2006. Currently they have over 50 members. The members hail from a diverse array of industries and professions, collectively representing over 20 nationalities who nurture their fellowship on many occasions. The Club's signature project is called “Gift of Life”, which has provided more than 780 lifesaving operations to young children and teenagers whose families cannot afford the hospital costs.
The Rotary Club of Shanghai meets every Tuesday from 6.30pm-8.30pm at Hualuxe Shanghai Twelve at Hengshan Hotel.

Patrick made mention and many thanks for all the work people put in for citizenship night and how proud he was.

Kerry Hayes introduced the guest speaker, Rod von Clark the CEO Flagstaff Group. Ron has the most amazing insights on The Flagstaff Group; how they go about things, their amazing performance, helping so many people. He is very thankful, on behalf of Flagstaff, for the Race Day sponsorship.

Kerry Hayes thanked the guest speaker.

Ken Potter mentioned RYDA and the things that we are required to do if anybody would like to assist on the day or just visit and learn. He might even give you lunch.

Our wine raffle winners were Marilyn (not present) and Barry, and John was the winner of Marilyn's meal (also raffled).

President Phil requested of our guest speaker that we would appreciate volunteers from Flagstaff to volunteer at the BBQ.

Early start next week with drinks
Ken Potter told an excellent Joke. No Joke book required.

    Meeting closed 7.36pm
