Our first meeting at “stand-in” venue, Towradgi Bowling Club was a pleasant success. On Helen’s recommendation Rose organised the evening and attendance was impressive, as well as being in party mode. Was also a pleasure to enjoy Di’s company.
A number of matters discussed during the business part of the evening deserve a further reminder:
Kembla Grange Race Day … there are still seats available and each derriere on a seat is more assistance we can give to Flagstaff and Greenacres,
Please, if you can, put a hand up to assist for a short while at the upcoming Bunnings BBQ. IT’s also an opportunity to start getting goodies for Spring gardening,
The Rotary Foundation is looking forward to as many as possible to donate to the Centurian Program. For reminders on the hows and whys just give Ken a call.

Sergeant Ken declared the meeting opened at 6.45pm

Rose’s Reflection revolved around what all Rotarians are so familiar with – Giving. On this day (among many other examples) - in 1839, the French Government gave Louis Daguerre’s first photo of a human with instructions for the photographic process as a gift “free to the world”. - in 1477 Maximilian Archduke of Austria, in 1477, gave his wife a diamond ring beginning a tradition still popular over 5 centuries later. We toasted the satisfaction in giving.
Patrick’s International Toast was to humanitarian workers around the world who put the needs of others before their own and those who have lost their lives while serving and helping people affected by conflict. Disaster and suffering. Patrick also reflected that as Rotarians we share the same spirit of service – Service Above Self – and believe in making a difference wherever we can. Our toast was to World Humanitarian Day – to those who serve, those we remember and the spirit of humanity.
Ken informed members that 2 schools from Nowra are booked in for RYDA 14th and 15thOctober. See Ken if you’d like to assist. If you’ve never been, it’s a very worthwhile and interesting event.
Ken also reminded members that donations can be made to The Foundation through the Centurion programme.
Phil announced a few more volunteers are needed for our monthly BBQ at Bunnings.
Phil talked of our major event – Charity Race Day 12th September. We are still short on numbers and some donations for the silent auction such as vouchers. Please contact Phil if you can help.

Monetary Grants from the IMB Bank Community Foundation allow us to conduct the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) program throughout the year at Kembla Grange Racecourse.
Aimed at students in years 10-12, students attend 6 sessions focusing on the various areas of Road Safety.
The IMB Bank Community Foundation helps build better, brighter communities.
Bunnings Warehouse - Kembla Grange
The generous support of the Bunnings Warehouse - Kembla Grange BBQ Program allows us to fund-raise in support of various local, national and international charitable organisations much in need of funding for their various community programs.
In addition, Bunnings donate equipment and vouchers in support of our other fund-raising initiatives.
